Larry B. Mellick

Larry B. Mellick, holder of M.S., M.D. degrees, is residency trained in pediatric and emergency medicine. He holds board certifications in pediatrics, emergency medicine, and pediatric emergency medicine. His current academic ranks include being Professor of emergency medicine and pediatrics. His medical training was accomplished in the United States Army where he attained a rank of Lieutenant Colonel before being honorably discharged. Over a period of ten years, Dr. Mellick served as the Chairman of two academic departments of emergency medicine. During that same period of time he started a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine and has been the Director of three pediatric emergency medicine fellowships. He has published many peer-reviewed and nonpeer-reviewed articles and has served as the editor of a number of nationally distributed clinical publications. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of ED Legal Letter and has served as Executive Editor of ED Management Newsletter, Clinical Editor of ED Nursing Newsletter and was the Editor-in-Chief and the Founding Editor of Pediatric Emergency Medicine Reports. Dr. Mellick is currently a full-time clinical teacher of emergency medicine and pediatric emergency medicine at the Georgia Health Sciences University in Augusta, Ga, USA. He was recently voted by the residents to receive the Outstanding Faculty Educator Award. He is currently serving as the Chair of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Section of the American College of Emergency Physicians. His areas of interest are clinical photography, the creation of training videos, pediatric emergency medicine, headaches, and resident education. Finally, Dr. Mellick is the Medical Director of two clinics that serve indigent patients in Augusta, Ga, USA.
