Luis A. Cisternas

Luis A. Cisternas is a Professor at the University of Antofagasta, Chile, Researcher at CICITEM, and Program Leader of the Water, Energy, and Environmental Impact Program of CSIRO Chile. He has a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Universidad Cat ólica del Norte (Chile) and Ph.D. in the same field from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI, USA. His research activities have focused on the implementation of the process systems engineering to the mining industry, in particular, the systematic development of models, methods, and tools for problem solving in flotation, leaching , and crystallization. He has participated in numerous research projects. He has published over 60 papers in international journals and is the author of 23 book chapters and two books. He has presented more than 70 scientific papers in conferences and national and international scientific meetings, including invited presentations at various international events in the United States, Poland, Brazil, Denmark, and Argentina among others. He has served companies such as CODELCO, Michilla, Lomas Bayas, QGC, and SQM.
