Yoshihiro Ohmiya

Yoshihiro Ohmiya received the B.S. degree in applied materials science, the M.S. degree in materials science, and the Ph.D. degree in biochemistry from Gunma University, Kiryuu, Japan, in 1983, 1985, and 1990, respectively. He is the Director of the Biomedical Research Institute, National Institute of Advance Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), since 2012. He is also a Visiting Professor at the School of Medicine, Hokkaido University, and Tottori University, since 2010. He was an Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, Shizuoka University (1996–2000), and the Graduate School of Electronic Science and Technology, Shizuoka University (1999-2000). He was also the Leader of Cell Dynamics Research Group, National Institute of AIST (2000–2010), a Professor at School of Medicine, Hokkaido University (2007–2009), and a Deputy Director at Bioproduction Research Institute, National Institute of AIST (2010-2011). He is interested in application of bioluminescence system for imaging. Since 2008, he has been an Editor at the Journal of Bioluminescence and Chemiluminescence, and since 2009, he has been the President of the Japanese Association of Bioluminescence and Chemiluminescence.
