Andrea Ferrigno

Andrea Ferrigno was born in Ragusa, Italy, in 1973. He graduated, in 2000, from the University of Pavia, Pavia, Italy. Ferrigno is a Postdoc at the Department of Internal Medicine, Unit of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology at the University of Pavia. He received his Ph.D. degree in pharmacology and epidemiology (2007), investigating the mitochondrial function after administration of melatonin in ischemic livers. He currently focuses on the underlying mechanisms of organ failure, particularly cold and warm ischemia/reperfusion associated liver dysfunction, and the development of new techniques of marginal liver preservation for transplantation.
