Yvonne Vergouwe was born in the Netherlands, in 1971. She obtained her degree in Biomedical Sciences from Leiden University and her PhD degree from Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1996 and 2003, respectively. Between 1998 and 2004, Dr Vergouwe worked at the Center for Medical Decision Making, Erasmus MC, Rotterdam. Since 2004, she is working at the Julius Center for health sciences and primary care from the University Medical Center (UMC) Utrecht. In 2005, she visited the Centre for Statistics in Medicine, Oxford UK. At the moment, she is holding an Assistant Professor position both at Erasmus MC and UMC Utrecht. In 2010 she received a personal grant (VIDI scholarship). Her research focuses on clinical risk prediction, i.e. development, validation, updating and impact analysis of prediction models. She performs both methodological and applied research. Medical fields of application include oncology (testicular cancer), pediatrics (RSV infection, bacterial meningitis), anesthesia (postoperative nausea and vomiting, postoperative pain), internal medicine (deep venous thrombosis).
