Patrick Stuart is an Associate Research Professor at Saint Louis University, St. Louis, MO, USA, in the Department of Ophthalmology. He has held this position for over 8 years. Prior to that he held a similar position at Washington University in Saint Louis in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences for over 15 years. His research has focused on diseases and immunological activities that occur in the eye and more specifically the cornea. Before coming to Saint Louis he did a postdoctoral fellowship and became a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky. His research there could be differentiated into molecular immunology the first 3 years and the subsequent 5 years on how bacterial infection directly affects the gene expression and activity. His Ph.D. degree was conferred by Northwestern University in Chicago and his thesis was on hybrid resistance towards a murine squamous cell carcinoma.
