Luis Valente received a Ph.D. degree in informatics from PUC, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he researched pervasive mobile games. As an undergraduate and M.S. degree candidate, he has conducted research in computer graphics and game development for PCs. His work and his search for innovation have helped him to start a research program on game development at the graduate program of the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), Brazil. Currently, his research focuses on digital entertainment for mobile phones. This includes pervasive games and new ways, such as gestures and other cool things, of interacting with mobile phone games. He was on the Organizing Committee SB Games 2009 (Brazilian Symposium on Computer Games and Digital Entertainment), the main Brazilian conference on games, which held around 1000 attendees. In the mobile industry, he has been internationally recognized by being selected as a Forum Nokia Champion six times (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012).
