Luciane R. Cavalli is an Assistant Professor at Oncology Department at Georgetown University, Washington, DC, USA since 2005, and a Member of the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center and of the Fisher Center for Familial Cancer Research. She received her Ph.D. degree in human genetics from Federal University of Parana, Brazil (1999) and conducted her postdoctoral training at Georgetown University (concluded in 2002). She is a Molecular Cytogeneticist in training, and her main research interest is the study of genomic instability in breast cancer, through the identification and characterization of the genomic markers involved in the onset and progression of these tumors. In addition to her laboratory research, where Dr.Cavalli mentors several Ph.D. and postdoctoral students, she teaches annually at the Tumor Biology program of Georgetown University and at the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES), NIH.
