Jean-Paul Grund is a senior research associate at the Addiction Research Centre (CVO) in Utrecht, the Netherlands and a senior research fellow at the Department of Addictology, 1st Faculty of Medicine General University Hospital, Charles University Prague, Czech Republic, where he is involved in developing a new PhD program in addiction research. Previously, Jean-Paul held academic positions at the University of Connecticut and Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Holland. He was the founding director of the International Harm Reduction Development program of the Open Society Institute in New York and he was Technical Advisor at UNAIDS on HIV Prevention and IDU. Jean-Paul He is a member of the international editorial boards of Contemporary Drug Problems and the Harm Reduction Journal and a corresponding member of the Reference Group to the UN on HIV and injecting drug use. His areas of interest include: Drug use patterns and drug policy; Prevention of infection diseases and other harm among (injecting) drug users and other vulnerable populations, Public Health implications of drug use and (home) production in Eurasia; Stimulant drug use; Social control and self-regulation in drug consumption; Trans-disciplinary research methods, including ethnographic field research and (Internet based) Respondent Driven Sampling (i-RDS) and Peer Driven Interventions (i-PDI) among most at risk populations (MARPs).
