Seepage Mechanics in Rock Engineering

Call for Papers

Seepage mechanics in rock engineering studies the response of rock materials and rock masses under seepage. It covers wide applications in geological, civil, mining, and environmental engineering. Some of the latest and most challenging research topics in rock seepage mechanics include the seepage filed distribution and propagation and the corresponding dynamic responses and failure of rock materials and rock masses in the underground environments featuring high temperature, high in situ stress, and other special physicochemical conditions. Remarkable advancements on challenging topics in rock seepage mechanics have recently been made in physical testing, numerical modelling, and theoretical studies, as well as in engineering applications.

In this special issue, we focus on the latest advancements in seepage mechanics in rock engineering. We invite investigators to contribute to this special issue with original research articles as well as review articles on seepage mechanics in rock engineering as well as their applications to solve engineering problems.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Behaviour of rock masses under very high stress-to-strength ratios during seepage
  • Deformation behaviour of rocks and rock masses during seepage
  • Modelling of fracture and failure of rocks and rock masses during seepage
  • Dynamic behaviour of rocks and rock masses during seepage
  • New physical tests on rocks and rock masses during seepage
  • Seepage in mining, tunnels, dams, etc.
  • Environmental rock engineering
  • Mass loss in broken rock during seepage
  • Probability and risk in rock engineering
  • Education of rock seepage mechanics
