Advances in Neuroimmunology: From Bench to Bedside

Call for Papers

The last decade has witnessed significant advances in the field of neuroimmunology. There has been an increased recognition of the role of the immune system in the etiology of neurological disorders and numerous novel therapies that have specific targeted interventions. In addition to significant advances in well-established disorders such as multiple sclerosis and inflammatory polyneuropathies (AIDP and CIDP), there has been significant knowledge acquisition regarding inflammatory responses in neurodegenerative diseases and the role of pathogenic antibodies responsible for neurological syndromes (i.e., antiaquaporin 4 in neuromyelitis optica (NMO) and anti-NMDA in autoimmune encephalitis). We are especially interested in contributions which propose novel techniques and methodological approaches capable of determining significant contributions to the field. In this regard, contributions on the expanding field of epigenetics will be privileged. Accordingly, we also encourage studies focusing on diseases of recent description, such as NMO or anti-NMDA encephalitis. We invite investigators to contribute original research and review articles that will expand the current knowledge base with respect to both basic mechanisms of neuroimmune interactions and treatments based on immunomodulation

Potential areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Basic principles of neuroimmune interactions
  • Role of the immunogenetic background in disease development and evolution
  • Role of cytokines, chemokines, or other inflammatory mediators in the regulation of basic and pathological mechanisms in the nervous system
  • Inflammatory and autoimmune diseases of the central nervous system, either idiopathic (e.g., multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica, and idiopathic CNS vasculitis) or secondary to systemic diseases (e.g., systemic vasculitis and paraneoplastic syndromes)
  • Inflammatory and autoimmune diseases of the peripheral nervous system, either idiopathic (e.g., Guillain-Barrè syndrome, CIDP, and idiopathic PNS vasculitis) or secondary to systemic diseases (systemic vasculitis and paraneoplastic diseases)
  • Role of inflammation and autoimmunity in neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s diseases and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at according to the following timetable:
