The meridional and vertical wind speeds are indicated by the arrows (scale under each figure) and the zonal wind speeds are shown as the black contours. The dotted and solid black lines represent the zonal flow into and out of the page, respectively. The vertical component is multiplied by a factor of 100 to make it visible.
