Brittle Creep Failure, Critical Behavior, and Time-to-Failure Prediction of Concrete under Uniaxial Compression

Force-time and strain-time plots of a typical creep experiment on concrete as an example of demonstration of the loading process. (a) The curve of axial force versus time and (b) the curve of the axial strain versus time. It is clear that the load is kept constant during the creep phase. The strain of the sample increases with time at an applied constant force and eventually leads to a sudden macroscopic failure.
