Advances in OptoElectronics is a peer-reviewed, Open Access journal that publishes original research articles as well as review articles on the theory, design, fabrication, and applications of devices and components that convert light into an electrical current or, conversely, an electrical current into light.

Advances in OptoElectronics is archived in Portico, which provides permanent archiving for electronic scholarly journals, as well as via the LOCKSS initiative. It operates a fully open access publishing model which allows open global access to its published content. This model is supported through Article Processing Charges. Advances in OptoElectronics was founded in 2006 by Professor Frank Shi who served as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal between 2006 and 2009.
