Recent Advances in Heterogeneous Photocatalysts

Call for Papers

Offering many advantages, such as operation at room temperature, utilization of clean and renewable solar light as the driving force, simplicity and cheapness in the separation and reutilization of photocatalysts, and good thermal stability, remarkable efforts have been dedicated to the development of heterogeneous photocatalysts over the last few decades. Up to now, how to design appropriate heterogeneous photocatalysts that could (1) extensively prevent the backward reaction/side reaction in photocatalytic reaction, (2) fully utilize the spectrum in sunlight, and (3) effectively reduce the photogenerated eāˆ’ /h+ recombination rate is the most challenging task we are facing in this field.

This special issue aims at recently developed novel photocatalysts and their photocatalytic applications. It is open to both original research articles and review articles.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Heterogeneous photocatalysts: basic studies (mechanism, reaction pathway, etc.)
  • Heterogeneous photocatalysts: computational studies
  • Heterogeneous photocatalysts for applications in environmental treatment (degradation of organic compounds or pharmaceuticals, wastewater treatment, air purification, etc.)
  • Heterogeneous photocatalysts for energy and environmental applications
  • Heterogeneous photocatalysts for applications in renewable energy (water splitting, energy conversion, etc.)
  • Heterogeneous photocatalysts for applications in organic synthesis (photoepoxidation, photohydroxylation, partial alcohol oxidation, synthesis of amines, etc.)
  • Novel applications of heterogeneous photocatalysts
