Emerging Development of Sustainable Bioproducts from Renewable Natural Polymers

This issue is now closed for submissions.
More articles will be published in the near future.

Description

Sustainable bioproducts have attracted more and more attention due to their numerous advantages, such as being sustainable, renewable, and environmentally friendly. Since it is desirable to build a sustainable society based on renewable and sustainable resources, renewable natural polymers, for example, cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, protein, and chitosan, can be considered as future-oriented materials to replace fossil materials. Thus, it is essential to continue devoting efforts to this innovative biotechnology, which may be a gradual and long-term task.

This Special Issue is designed to update the state-of-the-art progress towards sustainable bioproducts derived from renewable natural polymers, for example, the improvement/development of products and technologies related to bioproducts, particularly development of advanced applications. Both original research and review articles are welcome.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Novel technologies for natural fiber derived composites
  • Utilization of natural proteins for ecofriendly products
  • Converting the natural polymers into micro/nanoparticles, e.g., nanocellulose, nanolignin, nanochitosan, etc.
  • Fermentation process for bioethanol, biobutanol, bioamino acids, etc.
  • Pyrolysis/gasification of biomass for valuable products, e.g., biofuels, biogases, biocharcoal, etc.
  • Life cycle assessment (LCA) of natural resource derived products
  • Novel technologies, methods, and applications related to natural polymers
