Structural context of methylation sites in RNAP subunits. Numbering is taken from Table 1. Fifteen of the sites are situated in -helices whilst site 7 is in a hairpin turn and site 15 is situated in the -sheet region of a -hairpin. All structures are from S. shibatae RNAP structure (PDB 2WAQ) with the exception of 8, 9 and 10 which are from the S. solfataricus RNAP structure (PDB 2PMZ) as the two structures differ in this region of the subunit.
