Archaeal diversity and richness values at 1% and 3% genetic distance. Numbers of observed OTUs as well as Shannon and Chao1 values were calculated with QIIME [16]. The maximal OTU number (𝑛_max) in each sample was calculated by nonlinear modeling. Coverage was determined based on observed OTUs and 𝑛_max. To compare community structures, 3100 randomly selected sequences form every sample were used.
