UV-Vis absorption spectra of 2 mM of 2 in H2O at time = 0 (black) and time = 36 hours (red). Immediately after the addition of 10 equivalents of the biological reducing agent, ascorbic acid (blue), the signature Co(III) d-d transitions decrease in intensity over time (after 36 hours is shown in green) suggesting that reduction of the cobalt center is observed.
