Sources of variability in Principal Components 1 through 3 (30.79% of Total Variance) in a 36 slide microarray experiment replicated at two locations. The majority of variation is due to dye and site effects, which can be controlled for during the data analysis. Tissue and residual feed intake (an experimental condition not analyzed for this paper) contribute measurable amounts of variation to expression levels enabling detection of differential expression.
