Microvessels in matrigel injected subcutaneously over the dorsum. Unsorted and FACS sorted GFP positive endothelial cells from the heart in matrigel were injected subcutaneously over the dorsum of C57BL6 mice ( for each cell line, total ). After 14 days, 0.5 mg/mL WGA-rhodamine (red) was injected intravenously 30 minutes before harvesting the matrigel plug. Tissue sections of matrigel were stained with antiCaveolin-1 followed by a secondary Alexa 647 (magenta pseudocolored) and also stained with DAPI (blue). Scale bar = 100 μm.
