Protective Effect of 3,4-Methylenedioxyphenol (Sesamol) on Stress-Related Mucosal Disease in Rats

Effects of sesamol on neutrophil infiltration in water immersion restraint- (WIR-) treated rats. Rats were divided into five groups of five: Group I, non-WIR (normal) group; Group II, WIR (control) group rats were subjected to WIR; Groups III–V, sesamol-plus-WIR group rats were orally given sesamol (0.1, 0.3, and 1 mg/kg, resp.) 30 min before WIR. Mucosal myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity was assessed after WIR. Data are means ± standard deviation (SD). Significant differences between measurement traits were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. Different letters between groups indicate statistically significant differences ( ).
