The TvLEGU-1, a Legumain-Like Cysteine Proteinase, Plays a Key Role in Trichomonas vaginalis Cytoadherence

Figure 7

TvLEGU-1 participates in T. vaginalis cytoadherence. For cytoadherence inhibition experiments, [3H]-thymidine-labeled iron-rich parasites (  cell/mL) were incubated for 20 min at 4°C with different concentrations (0, 50, and 100 μg/mL) of the IgG (A) and Fab (B) fractions from the anti-TvLEGU-1r or PI serum before interaction with HeLa cell monolayers. (A) Cytoadherence inhibition with IgG fractions from the anti-TvLEGU-1r (black bar) or PI (white bar) serum. (B) Cytoadherence inhibition with Fab fractions from the anti-TvLEGU-1r (black bar) or PI (white bar) serum. Each bar is the mean of the percentage of cytoadherence of triplicate samples; error bars represent the standard deviations of three experiments in triplicate with similar results. * is the significance of the difference between 100 μg/mL IgG fractions of the control PI serum and the anti-TvLEGU-1r serum. * is the significance of the difference between 50 or 100 μg/mL Fab fractions of the control PI serum and the anti- TvLEGU-1r serum.
