5-Lipoxygenase Deficiency Reduces Acetaminophen-Induced Hepatotoxicity and Lethality

Acetaminophen (APAP) induces 5-LO-dependent liver damage. WT and 5-LO−/− mice were treated with APAP (3 g/kg) or saline per oral, and after 12 h blood samples were collected to assess liver damage by measuring plasma levels of (a) aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and (b) alanine aminotransferase (ALT).
