Phytoestrogen α-Zearalanol Attenuates Homocysteine-Induced Apoptosis in Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells

Pretreatment with α-ZAL attenuated apoptosis of homocysteine-challenged HUVECs—caspase-3/cleaved caspase-3 expression (Western blot). The expression of caspase-3 and cleaved caspase-3 was significantly increased after treatment with 500 μmol/L homocysteine for 24 h. Pretreatment with α-ZAL could attenuate this effect.
