Fluorescence images of control and Nile red loaded GNC (Nile-GNC) taken after 15 min and 1 h of treatment in A549 cells (at 40x magnification). For this assay, lung cancer A549 cells were seeded on 24 well plates and incubated at °C under 5% CO2 for 24 h. The cells were treated with the Nile red solution or Nile red loaded formulations for 15 min and then treated for an addition of 45 min for a total treatment time of 1 hr. After 15 min, media were removed, and the resulting cells were washed with PBS.
