Experimental design. Animals () were given 10 μL of LPS or its vehicle (HBSS) on day 1 by oropharyngeal route. On day 2, animals were administered 40 μL of NP suspension or vehicle for NPs (2.5 mM trisodium citrate) by the same route. Twenty four hours later, animals were weighed and sacrificed, organs were collected, wet organ weights were measured, and samples were processed for ICP-MS analysis.
