A Short-Term Incubation with High Glucose Impairs VASP Phosphorylation at Serine 239 in response to the Nitric Oxide/cGMP Pathway in Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells: Role of Oxidative Stress

Effects of a 20 min preincubation with the antioxidant mixture SOD (300 U/mL) + catalase (250 U/mL) on the 8-Br-cGMP-induced VASP phosphorylation at Ser 239 in the presence of 5 and 25 mmol/L glucose. Blots are representative of six different experiments. SOD and catalase did not modify the significant increase of VASP phosphorylation induced by 8-Br-cGMP in the presence of 5 mmol/L glucose but significantly increased the extent of 8-Br-cGMP-induced VASP phosphorylation in the presence of glucose 25 mmol/L ( ).
