TolC Promotes ExPEC Biofilm Formation and Curli Production in Response to Medium Osmolarity

Growth kinetics of ExPEC wild-type (WT), ΔtolC, and Cm-tolC strains. WT (◊), ΔtolC strain (□), and Cm-tolC strain (△) grown in M9 media (a) or 1/2 M9 medium (b) at 28°C with shaking at 200 rpm. Bacterial strains were grown for 13 h, and the optical densities at 600 nm (OD600) were recorded hourly. Three independent cultures were tested in triplicate, and each point on the growth curve represents an average of nine readings.
