Influence of 17β-estradiol and testosterone on the expression of tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-3 (TIMP-3) and matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3) mRNAs in articular chondrocytes from female and male rabbits for 3-day culture. The experiments were conducted in triplicate, and a mean ± standard deviation was expressed. Data were normalized to the control values, which were set at 1.0 (^∗𝑃<0.05, ^∗∗𝑃<0.001).
