Biochemical and Functional Comparisons of mdx and Sgcg−/− Muscular Dystrophy Mouse Models

The Sgcg−/− D2 mice displayed the most severe pathology in histochemical assessments. By Pico Sirius Red staining the quadriceps and diaphragm of the Sgcg−/− D2 displayed far more red regions which correspond to fibrotic scarring than the mdx tissues. The hematoxylin and eosin pictures demonstrated the same fibrosis. The fibrosis in the cardiac left ventricles appeared quite similar between the two genotypes. Both mouse models demonstrated interstitial and perivascular fibrosis. Quadriceps and diaphragm legend bars represent 400 μm. Heart legend bars represent 200 μm.
