The main predictor of mortality was nontreatment with OAC, with significantly lower mortality in patients treated with VKA instead of antiplatelet (). This figure has been published previously [27]. The overall percentage of patients not treated with OAC was 26.9% (CI = 95%, 22.7–30.9). Mortality was higher () among those ones who had been diagnosed with ≥ 2 CVCs before the AF. On other hand, mortality was significantly lower among those who were treated with statins ().
