DNaseI prevents PQ-induced lung injury in mice and improves survival. (a) C57BL/6 mice ( for each group) were challenged with an acute lethal dose of PQ (40 mg/kg, i.p.) or sham exposure on day 1. Some mice were administered DNaseI or vehicle at the indicated doses on days 0, 2, 5, and 8. (b) DNaseI suppressed the circulating and BALF mtDNA levels in a dose-dependent manner. ((c)-(d)) Downregulation of total protein exudation, TNFα, IL-1β, IL-6, and collagen I in a DNaseI dose-dependent manner.
