Roles of miR-143/-145 in the regulation of vascular smooth muscle cell differentiation and proliferation (adapted from Cordes et al. [31]). Expressions of miR-143/-145 are positively regulated by SRF with the functions to repress several factors, including KLF4 and Elk-1, which are reported to be involved in the regulation of smooth muscle cell proliferation, leading to promotion of smooth muscle cell differentiation and inhibition of proliferation.
