A line histogram of inter-vesicle release time intervals (IVT) at two different voltage levels for all three ribbon shapes shown in Figure 11. The blue line indicates the disk shape in Figure 11(a), the red line indicates the ellipsoid in Figure 11(b), and the green line the sphere shape in Figure 11(c). Note that as the intracellular voltage increases the direction of the normalised histogram shifts as indicated by the arrow. Furthermore the peak rate of release shifts from an IVT equal to 5 ms, that is, 200 Hz, to an IVT equal to 2.2 ms, that is, roughly 460 Hz, as the intracellular voltage increases from −35 mV to −20 mV.
