Potential Therapeutic Benefit of Combining Gefitinib and Tamoxifen for Treating Advanced Lung Adenocarcinoma

Figure 4

Cotreatment of TAM reduces the IC50 dose of Gef in LAC cells. (a) Cytotoxic effect of Gef on PC9 cells with or without TAM treatment. TAM treatment suppressed cell growth (in 0 nM Gef) and the addition of Gef further suppressed cell growth. (b) Cytotoxic effect of Gef on A549 cells with or without TAM treatment. TAM treatment exerted a limited effect on A549 cells growth; however, the cytotoxic effect of Gef was enhanced by TAM cotreatment. (c) The IC50 of Gef from 2.1 nM to 0.6 nM in the presence of TAM in PC9 cells and from 9.7 μM to 4.9 μM in A549 cells. All results were from at least three independent reproducible experiments.
