Risk Factors and Scoring System for Predicting Bacterial Resistance to Cefepime as Used Empirically in Haematology Wards

Table 4

Predictive score of cefepime resistance with 3 risk factors at onset of the first episode of bacteraemiaa.

ScoreNumber (%) of patients% cefepime resistanceOR

0 risk factor55 (53)271
1 risk factor30 (29)634.6 (1.8 to 11.9)
2 risk factors14 (14)8621.3 (4.4 to 104.1)
3 (all) risk factors4 (4)100

The 3 criteria are acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, beta-lactams administration during the month or at onset of bacteraemia, and time elapsed since hospital admission >18 days.
