Initial 1 h silicon tube was used as control to indicate no metabolic activity; after 1 hr swine artery was connected to ex vivo bioreactor under oxygen supply to monitor tissue metabolic activity until 4 hr. After 4 h oxygen supply was terminated and nitrogen is supplied to observe tissue responses in absence of oxygen.
