Interaction among β-catenin, Lef/Tcf transcription factors, and VDR. The epidermal phenotypes and Wnt/VDR transcriptional activity of wild-type and VDR–/– mice are compared in the presence or absence of β-catenin activation in 4OHT-treated K14-ΔN-β-catenin-ER transgenic mice. EF: ectopic hair follicle; BCC: basal cell carcinoma. TCF/Lef and VDR are shown bound to DNA in the presence of transcriptional corepressors (R) or β-catenin.
