Complement Factor 3 Could Be an Independent Risk Factor for Mortality in Patients with HBV Related Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure

Figure 2

C3, C4, and CH50 levels were significantly lower in HBV-ACLF patients, independently of HBeAg presence. Pooled data indicated the levels of C3, C4, and CH50 in each group, where the lines indicated the median. (a) Serum C3, C4, and CH50 levels were significantly lower in HBV-ACLF patients compared to CHB subjects and NC group. No significant differences existed between patients with HBeAg positive and those with HBeAg negative, neither in CHB group (b) nor in HBV-ACLF group (c). ; ns, not significant. ACLF, acute-on-chronic liver failure; CHB, chronic hepatitis B; NC, normal control; HBeAg-P, HBeAg-positive; HBeAg-N, HBeAg-negative.
