Clinical data of patients with UC included in the study. Study patients are grouped according to tissue inflammation degree as mild (cryptitis, ), moderate (crypt abscesses, ), and severe (ulcerations, ) as described in Section 2. In addition, control colon tissues () obtained from patients with volvulus and colon cancer were studied.
