Endovenous Laser Ablation of Varicose Veins Preserves Biological Properties of Vascular Endothelium and Modulates Proinflammatory Agent Profile More Favorably Than Classic Vein Stripping

Figure 2

Concentration of TGF-β1 (a), GRO-1 (b), TNFα (c), and IL-6 (d) in the serum from patients treated with the classic vein stripping (CVS) and the endovenous laser ablation (EVLA). The measurements were made using the appropriate ELISA kits using serum collected 6 h after surgery. Results (expressed as means ± SEM) derive from experiments performed with the sera from 7 (TGF-β1, GRO-1), 10 (TNFα), and 12 (IL-6) patients per group. Asterisks indicate significant differences as compared with CVS.
