Tempol, a Superoxide Dismutase Mimetic Agent, Inhibits Superoxide Anion-Induced Inflammatory Pain in Mice

Tempol inhibits KO2-induced decrease of Nrf2 mRNA expression in the paw skin and spinal cord. Mice were treated with tempol (100 mg/kg) or vehicle 40 min before KO2 intraplantar injection. Paw skin and spinal cord samples were collected 3 h after KO2 injection and Nrf2 mRNA expression was evaluated by qPCR. Results were normalized using GAPDH as gene control and expressed as means ± SEM ( per group per experiment, representative of two separate experiments) [ versus saline; versus KO2 + vehicle (one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s -test)].
