Human Dental Pulp-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cell Potential to Differentiate into Smooth Muscle-Like Cells In Vitro

<div>DPSCs induced under different treatments (Norm-c and Gel-c) were shown to have positive expression for SMC specific early (<i>α-SMA</i> and <i>SM22-α</i>), mid (<i>CALP</i>), and late (<i>SMTN</i> and <i>MHY-11</i>) markers. Comparatively higher expression was shown by differentiated cells in comparison to untreated control. The Norm-c and Gel-c treatment groups did not show any significant differences for <i>α-SM</i>, <i>SM22-α</i>, and <i>SMTN</i> whereas the Gel-c treatment group displayed significantly higher expression for <i>CALP</i> and <i>MHY-11</i>.
