Coastal Biotechnology: Facing the Global and Regional Changes

Call for Papers

Coastal biotechnology explores and utilizes marine and coastal bioresources. Coastal biotechnology is now undergoing rapid development with exciting achievements in science and engineering, for example, biochemistry, genetics, genomics, aquaculture, bioenergy, and other related fields. No doubt that coastal biotechnology also incorporates enormous social and economic benefits. Moreover it provides a foundation for establishing the ocean farming industry. This in turn could supply enough technological support for international efforts that will exploit marine bioresources and keep coastal zone being developed sustainably. Coastal biotechnology is relatively young but it reveals unbelievably vigorous and powerful applications. This clearly indicates that coastal biotechnology is now leading certain trends from genomics to marine aquaculture and from genomic engineering to ocean farming. For more specific health benefits to humans, applicable pharmaceuticals are likely to emerge as more natural products are shown to be effective. Lastly, coastal biotechnology is one of the fruits of bioprospecting!

We invite both the participants of Asia-Pacific Conference on Algal Biotechnology 2012 and 1st International Conference on Coastal Biotechnology as well as other authors working on marine and coastal biotechnology to contribute original research as well as review articles. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Changing distribution pattern of coastal bioresources
    • Coastal and marine bioresources
    • Conservation biology
    • Coastal and marine biogeography and phylogeny
    • Large marine ecosystems
  • Coastal biotechnology: facing the global and regional changes
    • Sustainable aquaculture
    • Fisheries and CO2 sequestration effects of coastal reclamation on bioresources
    • Biotechnologies of salt-tolerant plants

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at according to the following timetable:
