An Antithrombin-Heparin Complex Increases the Anticoagulant Activity of Fibrin Clots

Catalysis of thrombin inhibition by anticoagulant bound to fibrin clots. Recalcified plasma clots were incubated with antithrombin (AT) + heparin (H), AT + high AT-affinity heparin (HAH) or antithrombin-heparin covalent complex (ATH), and increase in percent inhibition of soluble thrombin by AT calculated relative to clots in buffer.
