Synthesis, Spectral Characterization, and Biochemical Evaluation of Antidiabetic Properties of a New Zinc-Diosmin Complex Studied in High Fat Diet Fed-Low Dose Streptozotocin Induced Experimental Type 2 Diabetes in Rats

Table 5

The activities of glycogen synthase and glycogen phosphorylase in liver tissues of control and experimental groups of rats.

GroupsGlycogen synthaseGlycogen phosphorylase

Control829.61 ± 20.42513.56 ± 25.67
Diabetic control439.45 ± 15.64783.63 ± 22.63
Diabetic + Zn-diosmin667.13 ± 16.66659.16 ± 14.69

Units are expressed as  moles of UDP formed/h/mg protein for glycogen synthase and μmoles Pi liberated/h/mg protein for glycogen phosphorylase.
Results are expressed as mean ± SEM []. One-way ANOVA followed by post hoc test LSD was done. Values are statistically significant at < 0.001. The results were  compared to control rats and compared to diabetic rats.
