Description

Cognitive impairment is a brain condition resulting from trauma such as old age, falls, road accidents or sports-related injuries, or other causes, including vascular, infective, or inflammatory insults. Some signs of cognitive impairment are memory concerns, or other cognitive complaints. Non-memory triggers include personality change, depression, deterioration of chronic disease without explanation, and falls or balance issues. Old age people, people having dementia, and people having mild cognitive impairment always need permanent surveillance of a doctor or nurse. Therefore, we need automated and sustainable solutions to assess an individual's health condition quickly and efficiently.

Cognitive assessment plays a central role in research and clinical care related to cognitive aging and cognitive health. Cognitive assessment assists individuals who cannot efficiently carry out their routine activities to promote sustainability and support independent living. Recently, researchers have worked towards providing solutions to assess an individual's cognitive health, but it is still challenging to use such solutions in the real world, and hence using Deep Neural Networks to assess cognitive health has become a highly relevant research topic.

Given these facts and developments, this Special Issue aims to collate original research and review articles with a focus on investigating and sharing ground-breaking ideas, approaches, hypotheses, and practices centered around cognitive healthcare applications.
