Development and Application of Nanoparticles in Biomedical Imaging 2019

Call for Papers

Nanoparticles offer new possibilities in biomedical imaging which surpass the traditional concept of an imaging probe, from multimodal imaging with a single compound to new imaging techniques and theranostic approaches. Diverse areas, including inflammation, infection, neuroscience, cardiology, and oncology, benefit from the use of nanoparticles. The development of nanoparticles for biomedical imaging is deeply interdisciplinary, from the chemistry to obtain and functionalize new nanomaterials to the physics behind the imaging technique and, finally, biology and medicine to focus on the pathological aspect. Continuous research is necessary for more and improved applications, keeping always in mind the safety and biocompatibility of newly developed nanomaterials. Furthermore, it is important for researchers to be aware of technical and regulatory challenges in order to adequately translate findings from basic and preclinical reports to the clinical field.

Therefore, we invite the submission of original and review articles on basic, translational, and clinical studies concerning the development and application of nanoparticles.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Photoacoustic imaging
  • MRI
  • MPI
  • SPECT and PET
  • Fluorescence and bioluminescence imaging
  • Bioconjugation of nanoparticles for bioimaging
  • Protein corona role in molecular imaging

Authors can submit their manuscripts through the Manuscript Tracking System at

Submission DeadlineFriday, 19 July 2019
Publication DateDecember 2019

Papers are published upon acceptance, regardless of the Special Issue publication date.
