Computational and Control Methods in Rehabilitation Medicine

Call for Papers

In recent years, the development of human-machine interfaces for medical applications and rehabilitation medicine has rapidly increased and still continues to grow. The main goals have been a novel in- and outpatient diagnostics and improved quality of life, especially for the people with special needs. The research and development in this field require various novel control algorithms and computational tools to extract features from measured biosignals. Some recently developed algorithm and tools may become part of the inhouse equipment for hospitals, while some advanced solutions for home applications may also enable telemedical services in the recent future.

The main focus of this special issue will be on novel and also existing devices/machines in interaction with human intended for rehabilitation medicine. However, the special issue will comprise also computational solutions for (remote) health monitoring and thus form an international forum for researchers to summarize the most recent ideas and developments in the field. Special emphasis will be given to the computational and control methodologies, while also clinical results obtained within the last five years will not be neglected. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Neuromotor control, neural prosthesis, and neuromodulation
  • Human-machine interfaces in rehabilitation medicine
  • Rehabilitation robotics
  • Intelligent health monitoring systems
  • Computational biomechanics
  • Biomedical statistics and evaluation of rehabilitation progress
  • Signal processing and image analysis for the diagnosis of neuromuscular diseases
  • Information and communication technology (ICT) in rehabilitation medicine

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at according to the following timetable:
